Junín Lake (Lake Chinchaycocha Salvemos)
National Reserve was declared as the August 7th of 1974, by Supreme Decree No. 0750-74-AG.
It is the highest lake in the world, with a beauty that is unparalleled in the highland province of Junín.
The volume of natural water was doubled in the last century to build a dam affecting this part of the archaeological area near the lake.
Lake Junín deposited a variety of species of flora and fauna, especially birds that live permanently among the vegetation and lake birds arrive in flocks during their long journey from one extreme to another continent (Month of July).
But the lake for years has been continuously polluted by tailings from the mines of Cerro of Pasco, which has put at risk the ecosystem, if not stopped, will lead to the collapse and disappearance of flora and fauna.
Pampas Chacamarca
These Pampas were the scene of the Glorious Battle of Junín on August 6th of 1824, in which the gesture patriot army, by the action of the champions of the victory of the Husares of Junín, defeated the Spanish forces during the Independence Campaign nationally.

PREHISTORY OF JUNÍN - The Caves of Pachamachay and Junín Pumpush
